Brain Cancer Symptoms
The brain cancer symptoms usually develop with the passage of time. Their characteristics depend upon the size and location of the tumor in the brain. The brain tumors are also graded according to their growth.
There are two types of brain tumors that occur in the brain:
A. Primary Brain tumors: These originate in the brain
B. Secondary (Metastatic) Brain tumors: These originate from the cancer cells.
The Brain Cancer Symptoms are:
1. The brain tumor might act as an obstruction of the flow of cerebrospinal fluid which leads to the accumulation of hydrocephalus and intracranial pressure. This leads to vomiting, nausea and headaches which are common brain cancer symptoms. If the cranial nerves are damaged due to the origination of .Ependymoma., it may cause stiffening of the neck, and the tilting of the neck which leads to weakness.
2. Brain tumor also damages important neurological pathways and compresses the brain tissue.
The brain cancer symptoms in the Frontal Lobe are:
A. Changes in a person.s emotion and behaviour.
B. Impaired judgement and impaired sense of smell.
C. Paralysis on one side of the body which might become difficult to balance oneself.
D. Mental capacity gets reduced.
E. Loss of memory
F. Loss of vision and inflammation of the optic nerve.
G. Hormonal changes or disorders.
H. Dizziness.
The symptoms of brain cancer in the other parts of the brain vary with location. If the tumor is located on both the right and the left parts of the .frontal lobes. then it also causes cognitive changes along with the behavioral changes and uncoordinated and clumsy gait. If the tumor is located in the .occipital lobe., then it may lead to loss of vision in one eye or both the eyes along with seizures.
The brain tumors that develop in the temporal lobe are mostly without symptoms, but some may cause speech disorders and seizures.
A tumor located in the brainstem gives rise to the following brain cancer symptoms:
1. Changes in behaviour, mood or one.s personality causing irritability. Not able to concentrate on anything.
2. If there is a weakness in muscle in the face it leads to a crooked smile and tilting of the head. There could also be a weakness of muscle on one side of the body and this may cause difficulty in walking.
3. Difficult to speak and swallow food or water
4. Headache in the morning which might become more intense or severe.
5. Hearing difficulties
6. Vomiting especially in the morning.
7. Loss of vision or blurred vision and eyelids drop.
8. Feeling lethargic and drowsy.
The brain cancer symptoms produced due to the tumor of the meninges are:
1. Headache
2. Loss of hearing and vision suddenly, could also lead to double vision
3. Impaired speech and seizures or epileptic fits.
4. Continuous drowsiness
5. Emotional and intellectual changes and changes in the mental capacity.
The Metastasis type of brain cancer affects the brain tissue. The Metastasis type of brain cancer symptoms include:
1. Headache and bleeding
2. Mental function is impaired
3. Nausea and seizures
4. Vomiting
5. Swelling
