Blood Cancer SymptomsBlood cancer is most common in childhood age. In blood cancer or leukaemia, the white blood cells in our body are affected. Their growth becomes abnormal i.e. they grow and divide in an uncontrollable way. There are 3 types of blood cells in our body - red( used for carrying oxygen in our body), white(protect your body from infections) and platelets(useful in blood clotting). White blood cells are again of 2 types - myeloid cells and lymphocytes. All these blood cells are made by bone marrow, which is soft spongy centre of bones and then they are injected in your blood stream. After getting affected by leukaemia or blood cancer, this process of developing blood cells get disrupted. The growth of white blood cells which are important for your immune system gets uncontrollable. Instead of entering in blood stream they are blocked inside bone marrow and prevent it from further developing more blood cells i.e red blood cells and platelets which make your body prone to anaemia and weakens the blood clotting system. Blood cancer or leukaemia is of 2 types - Acute leukaemia mainly caused by affecting lymphocytes, symptoms develope fastly, proper care should be taken. Chronic leukaemia mainly caused by affecting myeloid cells, symptoms develope slowly at first but may be rapid at an advanced stage. There are various blood cancer symptoms depending upon its stage and type of white cells affected. Most frequently found blood cancer symptoms are nosebleeds, tiredness, pale skin, abdominal pain. In women most common blood cancer symptom found is heavier period. Abnormal bleeding from gums and cuts is another kind of blood cancer symptom. These problems occur due to lack of platelets which helps in clotting of blood. Blood cancer can be a genetic problem. Abnormal growth of white blood cells may cause pain in the bones. Swelling can be seen in bones and spleens due to accumulation of white blood cells in bone marrow. Spleens are the body parts found under ribs. Your body becomes weak and is unable to fight against any infection. Your body easily gets affected by cold, cough etc. These blood cancer symptoms are caused due to lack of white blood cells in blood stream which helps in fighting against infections. Other vague leukaemia symptoms are fever, headaches, weight loss, fatigue and night sweats. Itchy skin and red patches can be seen on the body. Blood cancer symptoms are more common in males than females who are involved in heavy smoking. If you notice any one of the above mentioned blood cancer symptoms, get a blood test soon to examine the quantity of blood cells and their growth. |
